We are a community choir based in Wargrave, Newton-le-Willows.
The choir was formed in the summer of 2016 by Alison Robinson, together with six other friends and founder members Elaine Hill, Carol Chorley, Marie Thornber, Lesley Rodon, Orla Glover and Anne Culshaw.

On our first night, Monday 19th September 2016, we had twenty people come along including Shade Black a local musician who had come to listen to us all singing and to hear what our ‘vision’ was for the choir and he immediately agreed to become our Musical Director.
We decided on our name ‘Wargrave Community Choir’ due to the initial backing and support of the ‘Wargrave Local Community Chest’ (a local network group) who awarded us some funding which helped the choir to get started.
We have continued to go from strength to strength and now have just over sixty choir members.
The committee and sub committee work together as a dedicated team to ensure our choir runs smoothly in all respects, by holding regular meetings. We have our own Facebook page (Wargrave Community Choir-North West) where you can keep up with all that is happening.
The choir meet every Monday at Cross Lane United Church, Newton-le-Willows at 7.30pm to practise. We have performed at a variety of events locally, including eight large concerts to packed out audiences and four visits performing at the Llangollen Eisteddfod International Festival in Wales.
We boast to be a very welcoming, friendly, charitable, mixed aged community choir who share the passion of singing a variety of music to suit all tastes. We have also formed a strong friendship group and therefore enjoy lots of social events together and love to make donations to charity when we can.
Shade Black
Shade Black combines a wealth of experience in both performing and teaching which belie his relatively young age. His youthful approach to music and especially teaching makes him an ideal person to relate to both the young beginner through to the more mature student.
He is our Musical Director and also the principle accompanist for LGN choir. If you would like to learn more about our fabulous MD please visit his website here.
