As a community choir, one of our leading principles is to help our local community. We hope that you find some interesting information about some of our efforts to date.

We made a Christmas Donation to Wargrave C of E Primary School to help them purchase some double buggies. This will help some of the youngest pupils experience the local community.

Again this year members of the choir have helped in ‘spreading a little happiness’ by supporting the Newton-le-Willows Rotary Club Shoebox Appeal.
The Rotary Shoebox Scheme, set up here in the North West, has been sending these practical gifts to disadvantaged children and families in Eastern Europe since 1994.
Pictured are members of the choir with their boxes for our 2025 Appeal.

Saturday 25th October was a fantastic day for Wargrave Community Choir as we were invited to take part in the official opening of The Dry River Bed at Newton Cemetery. Following an opening speech by Louise Forshaw the Chair of Wargrave Big Local,The Deputy Mayor Bisi Osundeko delivered a heartfelt speech. We were then invited to sing our favourite hymns, which was much appreciated by our audience. We then walked down to the River Bed where The Deputy Mayor kindly cut the ribbon and declared the River Bed officially open. Reverend Veronica Hancock delivered a very moving blessing for all people of faith or non faith. It was a truly perfect day!

It was lovely to see Arthur and Cliff at our rehearsal. We invited them so that we could present a cheque for £1000 to St Paul’s Church following our spring concert in April. Thank you also to Ann who couldn’t make it but who initially asked if we would be interested in doing a concert at St Paul’s. It was a pleasure and a great success.

Wargrave Community Choir, despite their countless donations to many charities, are furthering their generosity by providing an opportunity to someone who has a want and desire, to grow their musicality in what we believe to be an original idea.
Being fully funded and supported by a choir less than 10 years old Wargrave Community Choir, a vision that was realised by Alison Robinson and six friends, is one of the many things started by Alison. She decided that she wanted to bring another project to the community and from that day to now, the choir has been involved in many events that such a young choir would not usually take part in. Alison’s vision as fruitful as it has been, has not satisfied her hunger to give more to the wider community.
Wargrave Community Choir is proud to offer a fantastic opportunity to an aspiring pianist who wishes to further their musical journey, by applying to us to receive a ‘sponsorship’ in the form of piano tutorials and regular tuition from International Musician Shade Black paid for by the choir.
This is with a view that the successful candidate would be willing to play and accompany the choir at our concerts and events whenever needed. Age is not an issue but due to GDPR age 18+ is more desirable. Although reading music would obviously be advantageous, we would expect a desire to learn and further your reading and playing abilities necessary.
